Reels are the TikTok of Instagram. It is a golden opportunity for brands, businesses, influencers, and content creators to reach a wider audience!
If you’re not someone familiar with Reels, they are short, easy-to-digest video clips. You can shoot Reels ranging from 15 to 60 seconds. You may capture and edit video clips, as well as share Reels via Instagram stories, your profile, and if you’re lucky; the Explore page.
Moreover, the new Instagram Reel page is full of popular accounts’ Reels and trending Reels. Essentially, you can film short videos on the spot or upload a previously captured and edited video from your camera roll. Instagram’s stickers and text capabilities are also supported.
But, to have an opportunity to go viral on Reels, it would benefit to know all the tips and tricks to help you grow your account and reach wider audiences!
Table of Contents
Include a Call-to-Action
Whether it be through your Reels’ captions or when you reshare it to your Stories – there should be a call-to-action where possible!
Most importantly, you should include your CTAs in your Reels themselves. Doing this could get your viewers to do said action, such as following your account for more! If your Reel goes viral, you won’t want to have missed this step.
Keep Important Content in 4x5 Dimension
The 4×5 dimension on Instagram is the size of the Reel when you see it on your Home tab. It can be easy to make the mistake of including content outside the 4×5 ratio, which is cut off if the Reel is not viewed in full.
If text is placed too high on Reels, this element could be cut off when previewed in the Home tab. Hence, you should keep in mind that when editing your Reels, keep important content within the 4×5 dimension!
Remember, if you’re using text captions in your Reels, don’t make it too fast to read or too small! Having text that is too small and/or fast for the eye to read could turn your audience off from engaging with your content.
Instagram’s users typically don’t have the patience to watch something over and over again. Unless they really enjoy it!
One important thing about Reels is to maintain momentum and don’t give up!
You will improve, and your consistency will increase your chances of getting that viral Reel you’ve been waiting for.
Use Trending Audio
Similar to TikTok, people enjoy watching videos using the same audio and Instagram will even recommend other videos using the same! If you can catch a trend on its way to going viral, this will help to boost the views on your content.
Keep Reels, Don’t Delete Them
Reels have a long shelf life. They’re not like Stories that are only available for 24 hours. Or posts which are difficult to get on the explore page. Reels have a shelf life of around two weeks on the explore page and even have their own tab for people to scroll.
By not deleting your Reels, they could actually still get traction and additional views even if they’ve already been in your feed for a few days.
The secret to a viral Instagram Reel is in this guide! So, how will you be planning your Instagram growth strategy and reaching your ideal audiences?
